ABOUT THE FAMILY BEHIND THIS FAMILY BUSINESS.

Our clients range from international and highly successful businesses to small start-ups to individuals.  We treat our clients the way we would want to be treated – that your case is the most important case pending, because it is for you.  We do not advertise.  Our business comes from referrals.  Sometimes opposing counsel.  Sometimes opposing parties.  But most often, from our clients.  How we treat and represent our clients has reflected on all the referrals we receive and the years and, in some cases, decades of consistent representation of the same businesses/individuals.  So who is behind this family runned law firm?

Michael graduated from Creighton University School of Law and was admitted to practice in Minnesota in 1979.  He worked as an associate at a large firm for two years and opened his own practice in 1981 – the year I (Brandon) was born.  Since then, he has been admitted to practice in the State Courts of Wisconsin and Iowa, the Federal District Courts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Texas, Colorado, Illinois and Oklahoma, as well as the Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.  He has received recognition as a life-time member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum – fewer than 1% of U.S. lawyers are members.  Michael is passionate about our clients and is a fierce and respected advocate.  I am fortunate to have learned from one of the best damn trial attorneys around.

Kathy, Michael’s wife and my stepmom, has been our office manager for over 30-years.  As a result of Kathy’s work, we have had the same banking relationship for over 30-years, the same office supply company and equipment company, utilized the same court reporters and vendors, and have been able to provide our clients with consistency and stability to help their case run smoothly from start to finish.  She does the thankless behind the scenes work.

I am a cum laude graduate of William Mitchell College of Law; graduating in the top 10 students in my class following my Division I and professional hockey career.  I am admitted to practice in the States Courts of Arizona, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin, the Federal District Courts of Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin and the United States Supreme Court.  I have been published on multiple occasions and frequently present at Continuing Legal Education seminars.  I was also was selected by my peers as a 2014 – 2021 Minnesota Super Lawyer Rising Star – an honor awarded to the top 2.5% of attorneys in Minnesota.  Additionally, I am a life-time member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum; fewer than 1% of U.S. lawyers are members.  I am a Board Certified Civil Trial Law Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association and a Board Certified Civil Trial Law Advocate by the National Board of Civil Advocacy.  America’s Top 100 Attorneys presented me with a Lifetime Achievement award, the High Stakes Litigators award, and the Bet-The-Company Litigators award.  Best Attorneys of America awarded me a Lifetime Membership.  I was awarded Leading Civil Trial Attorney of the year by AI.  I am AV rated, the highest rating possible, by Martindale-Hubbell.  I also serve as a Board Member on the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the General Rules of Practice for the District Court, the Board of Legal Certification, and the Minnesota State Bar Association Foundation Board.

We have an in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of professions.  We build long-lasting relationships with our clients to set them up for success by taking the time to understand your goals and expectations.  And if trial or arbitration are necessary, we are battle-tested to get you the results you expect.
